There is nothing in that video to suggest that the arrest was made for "going
the wrong way".

It could just as easily have been a drugs arrest or an "assault police" and
nothing to do with the bike.

The poster clearly has an agenda;
----------------------------
Police brutality in Amsterdam, The Netherlands
This Italian tourist dared to cycle in the wrong direction, on his bike.
Apparently enough reason for Dutch authorities to roughen him up a bit...

Dutch police are well known to ignore true crimes, to prevent dangerous
situations for themselves. Instead, they mostly harass citizens for
speeding or minor offenses like this.

Being one of the smallest countries in the world, The Netherlands is
also known to have the lowest respect for privacy and the world's
highest number of phone taps by the government.

No, no, no... that's the blurb claimed by the person who posted the video.
That doesn't mean it's true.

None of it is supported by anything seen in the video.

AFAICS, it's just as likely that the arrest was for heroin-possession.

Who was the highly-vocal woman speaking English with a Spanish (or maybe
Latin American) accent?

Asaulting a policeman by pepper spraying him would be a far more
serious offence than cycling the wrong way down a one-way contra flow.
But I suppose you'd enjoy seeing a cycling in really serious trouble.

The bike is a mere stage-setting prop in the drama.

That wasn't an arrest for going the wrong way.

The evidence is the arrest itself and the manner of its execution. That is
not how cycling offences are dealt with in NL. It *is* the way that (most)
drug offences (or other offences of broadly equal seriousness, including
assault on police officers) is dealt with.

It is possible that the attention of the police was initially attracted by a
cycling offence, but going down a one-way street the wrong way - especially
in NL - is likely only to result in the offence being pointed out, with a
request that the offender desists and travels in the correct direction.
Something else must then have happened, unrelated to cycling.

The loud-mouthed woman is engaged in spin.

We all know spin when we hear it (or see it), don't we?

It was an Italian tourist who was cycling where no cycling is allowed.
The police refuse to comment until the investigation is completed. The
signs are very unclear at that station. He does not speak Dutch and
will have not reacted to initial requests to dismount. Then the police
went mad.

I will be England for two weeks soon. Would you please meet me to
discuss this issue further?

Sorry sunshine - if I see a piece of dog-**** on the footpath I don't think -
Oh - it would be nice to have a chat with that.

An attempted insult from an anonymous coward is not an insult.

I suggest you stop insulting people in that case.

upon whom everyone has sat apart from a real man.

Does anyone have the foggiest what that means?

An attempted insult from an anonymous coward is not an insult. You
have now shown every reader what a spineless chicken **** troll you
are. Flicking v-signs behind teacher's back. But do you dare back it
up, face to face. Of course not. A really pathetic cartoon character
loser, upon whom everyone has sat apart from a real man.

Oh dear it is Justin Bikey the Bloke who keeps changing his posting name -
gets caught - and then lies about it.

Hello it's Nobhead Lewis:
