Halfords to the rescue
After thieving scum nicked a load of kid's bikes.
"CYCLING equipment stolen by thieves following a break-in at Redditch BMX track has been replaced thanks to the generosity of a town company. Halfords, which has its main headquarters on Icknield Street Drive opposite the track, has donated five BMX bikes and 12 helmets worth £1,500 to Redditch Premiers BMX Club to replace equipment taken when a storage shed at the track was burgled in May including bikes loaned out to youngsters who do not have their own. Four of the bikes will be used to hire out and one was given away during a round of the British Cycling National BMX Series held at the track in July, which attracted more than 2,000 people. Jenny Davis, cycling communications manager at Halfords, said when they heard about the theft they wanted to help because of the long association the company has with the track it originally built in the 1980s. "The guys at the track really deserve a break. They do so much for the kids and as a neighbour of theirs which specialises in bikes we thought it was right we helped them out. We do a lot of work with them, using the track for promotional photo shoots and adverts, so this is us giving something back." http://www.redditchstandard.co.uk/20...ike-14143.html -- Simon Mason |
