The plan calls for the creation of bicycle lanes between Elm Street and Ludlow Avenue on Central to "spur the largest number of people to use bicycles, while still balancing the needs of other people who use the street," according to the city's website. Three options are presented to viewers on the bike plan's webpage at http://ow.ly/napZe to chose from for phase one, sections two and three of the project that run from Elm Street to Liberty Street and Brighton to Marshall avenues. Those options include a single bicycle lane on each side of Central Parkway, and a two lane bike path on one side of the roadway. Also included in one plan is a "cycle track" that establishes a physical barrier between car and bicycle traffic. Phase one, segment one that runs from Elm to Liberty streets will consist of a single lane cycle track, according to the website. For more information about the Central Parkway Bikeway plan, and to submit your input, visit http://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/bikes/n...arkway-bikeway. Input is also being sought on a re-striping project of Delta Avenue in Hyde Park and Mount Lookout that would add a bicycle lane connecting existing bicycle lanes to downtown. Input can be submitted to that project he http://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/bikes/n...iping-project/ .. Copyright 2013 Scripps Media, Inc. All rights reserved. The Best of Northern Kentucky contest was voted on by hundreds of Northern Kentucky Magazine subscribers. Finalists from the top vote-getters in 65 categories attended the event to showcase why they were Northern Kentucky’s favorite. Other finalists in the Best Fitness Trail category include Boone County Arboretum at Central Park and Boone Woods. The Licking River Greenway and Trails is an urban greenway from the mouth of the Licking River to the I-275 loop. The trail system seeks to connect neighborhoods and businesses on both sides of the river improving safety and increasing property values. The trail is governed by an inter local agreement signed by Covington, Wilder and Taylor Mill and includes nature, paved, and water trails. A two-mile portion of the trail has opened behind Holmes High School and stretches to 9th Street at Randolph Park. Paved trails are also accessible from Clayton-Meyer Park. Work on the Licking River Greenway and Trails will continue this summer. The second phase of the paved trail is being developed with on street biking and walking paths to stretch from the existing trail north to Confluence and south to 47th Street. ArtWorks has again partnered with Vision 2015 on the construction of nine murals for the trails. The murals focus on the theme “energy” and will be placed on existing concrete gate-well structures to support and represent beauty, character, and community found along the Licking River and throughout Northern Kentucky. Several community days are planned each year to clean-up the trails. The next community day is 9 a.m. to noon, Sept. 21.
