To be fair it looks suspiciously like they were known to each other
before the incident and presumably the driver only pulls out because he
suspects he might be in danger.

All in all the reporting appears to be a bit ****.

If Doug was here he would have said that the cyclist was first attacked with a "car weapon" and was only defending himself with his tyre lever.

AIUI Doug's position was that a car is just as deadly a weapon as a
knife. If a person threatened someone by deliberately driving at them
they would normally get a much lesser sentence than if they had
threatened someone with a knife. I think Doug had a good point.

If you (or anyone else) support the actions of that man wielding that
knife, you are utterly depraved.

Spot on. That is exactly what it looks like.

Me too - that knife looks more of a deterrent than a water bottle and it seems to have done the job in making the dangerous driver do one on his toes!

Top man!

I have to disagree.
The cyclist clearly knew the driver and did a double take when he realised who it was he was cycling past.
It looks like a personal vendetta or a gang related feud.

It reminds me of this case, when the mad driver was a nutcase butcher and had a picture of himself armed with a meat cleaver on social media.
