Why rich people are more likely to get on their bikes

Official figures reveal the bike is in fact becoming the transport
method of choice for the rich, rather than those further down the
earning ladder.

And the richer people become, the further they cycle, according to the
Department of Transport's National Travel Survey.

Didn't the late Medway Highwayman used to say that cyclists were "considerably richer than yow"?

Impossible, Medway had 147 children and they all went to Eton.

That phrase was introduced here by me, as a reference from the
Harry Enfield character, after a spate of cyclists claiming that they
were rich.

The character portrayed was a boorish, under-educated, arriviste yob who
thought he was better than everyone else he met. So as you will no doubt
agree, it fits very well in this context.
