Shimano Ultegra 6500 & Dura-Ace Triple Compatibility
Hi Guys:
Will a Shimano 7703 Triple crankset work with Shimano 6603 shifters? I currently have my bike setup with an ultegra triple but I have replaced the middle chainring with a 39t instead of the 42t. The shifting is clean, however I have to trim when in the middle chainring, otherwise the chain rubs on the inner plate of the of the front derailleur cage. Will using the 7703 aleviate this problem? Thanks, Claude |

What front derailleur are you using? Try the cheapest alternative, a
7703 front derailleur as it was designed for use with a 39t. That should do more for your problem than changing STI shifters! |

Yup,
Definitely using the 7703 triple front derailleur. Orignially tried with with the 6503 front derailleur and got no where. Wouldn't change the shifters, but was considering changing the crankset to the 7703. Thanks, Claude |

This is what I think may happen when we put the 39t ring onto your
bike. I think that I have a triple front derailleur that will work. On 23 Aug 2005 12:50:52 -0700, "C.H. Luu" wrote: Hi Guys: Will a Shimano 7703 Triple crankset work with Shimano 6603 shifters? Nope. The rubbing and trim requirement will be the same. Thanks, Claude |
