QUOTE:
Mr Corsini was pronounced dead at the scene. The cyclist was riding a
fixed gear bike which is not road legal, according to police
investigator PC David Keen. He said: “The bike has a fixed gear and no
front brake. In order to slow or speed up he has to use resistance in
his legs.

“The nature of this type of cycle could have made it more difficult to
slow down or speed up.”

An Alliston bike?

As bad as the outcome was, it could conceivably have been worse.

So the brakes, or lack thereof, were not relevant.

Very relevant according to the witnesses.

He sprinted to get past the truck then was suddenly thrown off the
bike. If you forget you're riding fixed-wheel there's a tendency for
the bike to launch you when you try to leave a leg extended, as you
might to prevent pedal strike when swerving. The fact that the bike
had no front brake probably wasn't relevant but it being a fixie may
have been the cause of the crash.

"If you forget you're riding fixed-wheel"
I thought better of you than that.

Next time I use the road, I really must remember what sort of road vehicle
I'm using.
It won't be a bicycle.
