"A cyclist suffered a broken leg after he was hit by a car near Newlands Corner on Friday evening.

Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses after the driver failed to stop following the collision on the A25 Shere Road at around 6.05pm.

The cyclist was heading towards the beauty spot at the time of the incident, which happened at the turning for the sand pit near Silent Pool.

He was taken to Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford with a broken leg.

Shortly after the incident, a Mercedes was seen in the area with damage to its front-end and a smashed windscreen."
