retrofit 2003 campy centaur triple group

Hi,
would like know if is it compatible to retrofit this group
=Front Derailleur is 28.6 mm diameter, down swing, down pull.
Rear Derailleur is a long cage 9 speed "Racing T".
BB is 68 mm.=
onto an older atala late 80's early 90's?, can i use the friction
shifters on the bike or do i have to get specific indexed shifters &
is there a bar end shifter option?
thanks for any help and info I'm a little worried about the difference
in age of the two and how it will affect the installation and
functionality

It should work fine, with one possible caveat--

I don't know if the Atala has an English- or Italian-threaded BB shell.
If the latter, then you'd need to get a new bottom bracket (probably
around $30) because the 68mm size is for English.

You can use your current shifters or any friction shifters to make this
work. You can use old or new barcons. If you DO want to go to index
shifting, things are a little more complicated and a lot more
expensive. You can pick up a pair of old Suntour or Shimano barcons
(the latter can be switched to friction mode) and all will be well.
Oh, you MIGHT want to put on a new chain (8s or 9s) while you're at it.

But overall, the cost is pretty low, and the Racing Triple is a pretty
nice crank. The difference in age shouldn't matter one whit.
