Slow down rusting of chain

LPS 3 works well. It is applied as liquid and then solidifies, like a wax. It is petroleum based, anti-corrosion compound.

I need to swap out a chainring on an old Schwinn cruiser. How are these chainrings removed? Will a Wald replacement chainring work? I cant figure out how its mounted. This is a late 60's vintage...
