road stem on MTB

Salaam.

As a rule can road stems (1 1/8th) be used on a mtb or is there a strength
issue? it would be nice to choose from the extended product and price
range.

Thanks

Mavic XC717 Versus Mavic EX721

Both the same price but EX721 is 170g lighter. Both as far as i can tell are
highly recommended generally but is the heavier XC717 any stronger perhaps?
Any tidbits appreciated.

Thanks

steam cleaning bicycle frame and components

Is this a good idea assuming everything is well dried before re-assembly? I
would have though that the heat tolerance of the paint on a standard steel
frame would be greater than 100% (?). Any ideas?...

this extra 0.1mm shouldn't make a difference...
