Mountain biker found dead

ROCKY POINT – Suffolk County Police continue to investigate the
circumstances surrounding the death of a Ridge man, who was found dead
on a bike trail of the New York State Conservation Area preserve in
Rocky Point.

A mountain biker was riding the preserve’s trails in Rocky Point when
he discovered the body of Richard Olson, 49, of Ridge, lying next to
his mountain bike on one of the trails. The biker checked on Olson and
then called 911.

Police responded and he led them to the scene about 1½ miles into the
woods.

Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding the incident
to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS or call the homicide squad at
631-852-6392. All calls will be kept confident.
