On one of our club rides, I used to leave a quid in a tin at a farm and shove 6 boxed eggs into my rear pocket.

The water mains have been upgraded over many years here. One hot day my friend was told her water would be off all day but there was a supply of free bottled water at the village shop. She went to get a bottle only to find a few people had turned up in cars and taken the whole lot. I suppose that is one way cars are superior to bicycles, you can grab more than your fair share.
