I happen to know a few other people who have suffered crippling
accidents. Financial and psychological devastation is the rule and the
mere fact that Tom is able to compose in English and plunk a keyboard
at all is miraculous. Even without brain injury, a year or two
horizontal ruins lives more often than not.


Agreed 100%. On the flip side, it's unseemly to spend too much time
patting oneself on the back for one's own good fortune, and the
superstitious part of me screams that it's just got to be bad luck.
