Police are now investigating the incident which was reported at
around
4.30pm on Monday afternoon. Mr Walsh was leaving Barclays bank at the
time. "A young lad on a bike had nearly run into him so he said
something like 'watch where you're going'.
"The lad on the bike should have just rode off But the thug - who
was with three other young men on bikes - stopped and turned back
towards Mr Walsh.
He got off his bike outside Greggs and punched him in the face
knocking him to the floor.
"There were four youths there. One knocked him to the ground.
"The three other lads were shouting 'he's coming after you'",
Victoria told the M.E.N.

So no evidence this happened on the footway but plenty of proof
pedestrians should wear helmets.
