Default Cyclist in 'stable' condition after being rushed to hospital - driver arrested

A cyclist was rushed to hospital after a collision in Leith this afternoon.

Police and emergency services raced to Easter Road, at the junction with Dalmeny Street, at around 3:30pm today after a collision involving a cyclist and a Mazda car.

A 25-year-old cyclist was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary to be treated for leg injuries but is said to be in a "stable" condition.

Police have now charged a 41-year-old man with with alleged traffic offences following the collision.

In a photo sent to Edinburgh Live, the cyclist was seen lying by the roadside with police officers speaking to possible witnesses at the scene.

A diversion was in place following the incident, with one passerby writing on Twitter: "Looks like there has been a nasty accident on Easter Road.

"Police diversion in place just after Lidl."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At 3:30pm on Sunday (26 July) police and emergency services were called to a road crash involving a cyclist and a Mazda car on Easter Road at the junction of Dalmeny Street.

"The 25-year-old male cyclist was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with leg injuries. His condition is described as stable.

"A 41-year-old man has been charged with alleged traffic offences and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
