Default Man arrested on suspicion of drink driving after cyclist seriously injured

Yet another drunk driver caught.
QUOTE:
Officers were called by ambulance crews shortly after midnight on Thursday (18 June) to a report of a red Kia car and a cyclist colliding on Charles Purley Way near Shripney.

The cyclist – a 17-year-old boy – suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital in a critical condition, police said.

Officers located the Kia nearby and a 21-year-old local man was arrested.

Giving an update last week, police said the man was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle when above the legal alcohol limit; possession of a controlled Class B drug; driving a vehicle while unfit through drugs; possession of a controlled Class A drug; causing serious injury by dangerous driving; and failing to stop after a road accident. (WHAT A CHARGE SHEET)

He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue, police said.

A spokesman said: “Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have seen the cyclist or vehicle beforehand.

“Anyone with information can report online or call 101 quoting Operation Newtown or serial 6 of 18/06.”
