I am glad to be able to advise you that Car Tax (the successor to
Purchase Tax, and insituted in 1973 because the Treasury could not
bear to lose the greater proceeds of that tax wheb PT was otherwise
replaced by VAT) was abolished in the early 1990s (under John
Major).

I'm pleased to inform you, by the same standard, that Road Tax was
abolished in 1937.

You are absolutely wrong (again).

Car Tax (strictly: Special Car Tax, though you referred to it as simply
"Car Tax") was abolished, as I described above. It is no longer charged
or paid.

Road Tax was *not* abolished. It merely had its name changed. It is
still charged and paid.

"I Pay Road Tax" claimants can't have it both ways.

Which "two ways" would that be?

Road Tax still exists. Whether you wish to bow to the PC newer names for
it is up to you.
