Here are test results about efficiency.

They measured a loss of an extra watt, so not much extra drag.
If there were big longevity problems, I imagine Andrew would know about them.
The only notable thing is that your usual idiots out there
(you know who you are) who eschew printed directions and run
them excessively tight or loose seem not to actually break
the belts.
