Not many people can fall and still land standing
on their feet like Ken Berry.

Back in the early '60s I was dragged by my mom
down to Seattle on the Great Northern train to
view the Pharaoh Tutankhamen exhibit. (Actually,
the Great Northern at that time only went as far
as Bellingham.) There rested the sarcophogus,
with crossed flail & scourge. I asked my mom:
"What's a scourge?"

Her reply was something about getting married
and raising kids like me. I didn't quite
understand her answer at the time, but I shrugged
my shoulders, accepted it, and went off to admire
some alabaster carvings of long-necked Abbysinian
cats.
