When looking at the route descriptions, I didn't see any route doing the
traditional l'Alpe d'Huez climb. Only the Balcon des Grandes Rousses on
July 19th reaches the village l'Alpe d'Huez, but through another climb
to the (beautiful, quiet) Col de Sarenne.
The descent is also not the traditional road (only the upper part).


The Col de Sarenne is a wonderful road. This report is a bit dated,
being nearly seven years old now:
