Except people do not come off SWB recumbents during a crash [1] in a way
that puts them near the chain ring, unless the circumstances were VERY
unusual. By this logic, upright bicycles are too dangerous, since the
rider can go over the bars and land on his/her head.


I do not think a bicycle chainring can slice a person bottom wide
open. It is not rotating at all, and it is not sharp.
