Hi, I have a old 1978 Rampar Rampact R-1026 bicycle that has 26 x 1
3/8 alloy wheels. I wanted to know if its possible to get more up to
date wheels for this old road bicycle, in order to go faster?

First step is to figure out if the bike has ISO 590-mm or 597-mm wheels.

Yes the bike has iso 590-mm. I can post pics of the wheel that I took on my phone if you want.

The Sun CR-18 rim is available in that size in 32, 36, and 40-spoke
drillings. You will likely have to have a shop (unless you want to
learn to do it yourself) build these up with hubs and spokes of your choice.

The Michelin World Tour is inexpensive (~$20) and is rated at 85 psi.
The Panaracer Col de la Vie is high quality, but a bit pricy (~$35).
