Default Velomobile and recumbent gather?

Eco (Umberto?) asked:

Anyone know about the 2007 event?

The following is a copy of a (long) email I received from Craig
Johnsen, one of the instigators of this event:

For those of you interested in Velomobiles and located somewhere
along the West Coast of North America, the Second Annual Left Coast
Velomobile Gathering is tentatively scheduled to be held in San Luis
Obispo, California over the weekend of March 24-25, 2007. (Due to
some pending, non-VM events, we are trying to move the date up a
month from last year's April meeting)

We hope to build upon the (apparent) success of last year's
inaugural event (video and pictures can be seen at:

http://www.podiva.com/leftcoast.mov and

http://www.humboldt1.com/~mhp/LCVMG/index.htm ,

which brought together a collection of homebuilt and
commercially-produced velomobiles as well as a couple of individuals
specifically interested in E-assist installations, whether solar or
battery powered.

This year, preliminary discussions indicate that we may well have
examples of several commercially-produced VM's ( WAW, FAW, Quest,
possibly a Versatile as well as a Go-One and another Quest, and at
least one Aurora). In addition, we should see several homebuilt
VM's, such as the Micro-based Pod, Solar trike(s), the Mueller's
collection of machines, perhaps John Tetz' Trike Zotefoam VM... and
more.

For the 2007 LCVMG, we also plan to formalize a couple of
presentations for those of you interested in building a velomobile
(or velomobile shell for an existing trike/bike) on Saturday.
Topics and presenters tentatively will include: Mark and/or Carl
Mueller talking about Coroplast construction, George Leone giving a
PowerPoint presentation about mold making, Jim Olsen talking about
E-assist components and, with some luck, John Tetz demonstrating and
talking about his Zotefoam shell constructions. It appears that we
will have access to a nearby larger parking lot to provide
additional space for test rides and VM riding demonstrations.

There are will again be a short group ride on Saturday afternoon and
a longer, group ride on Sunday, perhaps over to the coast at Morro
Bay and back, which provided a nice 40+ mile route last year.

We welcome all VM's and streamliners, whether homebuilt or
commercially-produced, as well as anyone interested in Velomobiles.
Also, we would like to extend a welcome to any recumbent
manufacturers looking to show VM-friendly cycles and manufacturers
(or sales reps) of E-assist systems which might be suitable for
installation in VM's. Admittance is free and there will be a
catered lunch put on for the demonstrators on Saturday. Donations
to help defray costs are, of course, quite welcome!

Accommodation information can be found at:

http://www.sanluisobispocounty.com/l...=cover&catID=1

If you are interested in attending, please feel free to email mail
me with any questions as well as to assist us with a general
headcount.

(BTW, We need a shorter, snappier name. One suggestion: VeloSLO.
Any others?) Hope to see many of you there,

Craig Johnsen

The "Pod" & Quest #95

There is some discussion of the event on BROL's messageboard, in
the Events and Velomobile sections. We may attend (without VMs).
