Going through literally dozens of saddles the ones that appear to work the best for me presently a

Selle Bassano Vuelta (extremely LARGE variations in fit)
Prologo Scratch Pro

In order to keep from getting too sore I have to change positions around pretty much. I've heard all about the leather saddles but they weigh in at two pounds plus and my bike is already heavy enough with the saddle pack and water bottle. I don't even carry two water bottles anymore because of how difficult some of these climbs are. Despite hearing of how people are riding up 32% climbs.

I can ride up really steep stuff and there are roads in San Francisco that even young strong riders on superlights cannot climb.

When you're climbing the rubbing of your thighs against a saddle is pretty bad so the saddles I use are very narrow on the nose and unfortunately that means that they are narrow at the half-way mark as well.
