I like riding in as upright position as possible.

My current stem is already maxxed out on the height.

My bike is a Huffy mountain bike.

Are the stems standard width or do I need to measure the diameter?

Yes.

If you do not have a vernier caliper, wrap a paper around it
to measure circumference then divide by pi.

Diameter is .875 inches.

I realized that I may need to replace some or both brake and shift cables because I think I could only go about 2 inches higher with the new stem.
