Default Maximum Tyre Size

Phil,
The High Roller is a nice tire. If you are riding cross-country or
slalom get the cross-country version of it and it will fit in nicely.
Two of the bikes on the market (Specialized FSR and the Giant NRS)
that I am familiar with that use the M117 both use a tire size of 26x2
(the size of the High Roller XC). If you keep the air pressure up and
go with the downhill 2.5 inchers you should avoid any pinch flats. I
have switched to a downhill tube in the back and haven't had a pinch
flat since (but it is a little on the heavy side if you are watching
your bike's weight).

I'm looking to replace the DNA Moto-Raptor on my back rim with something
a bit less prone to punctures and a bit better off road. The Maxxis High
Roller looks pretty good, but at 2.5 width I'm not sure if it's suitable
for my Mavic M117 rims, as they seem pretty thin (would this lead to
pinch punctures ?).

Anyone got any experience with the M117 wheels and can offer advice as
to how wide a tyre I can go up to ?
