A SURGEON died after a teenage cyclist punched him in a dispute about riding
a bike with no lights on, an inquest heard.

"The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told Warrington
Coroner's Court yesterday that he 'put his fist out' at Anthony Owen, 68, in
self defence after they nearly collided on Hale Road, Hale, on the evening
of Sunday, March 11 last year."

He told the court he had been riding a mountain bike with the younger boy on
his handlebars when he tried to avoid traffic calming measures and veered
into the path of an oncoming car.
