Any opinions or issues re cabon fibre bottom bracket shells?

It's the last place on most crabon fibre frames I'd worry about.
Usually overbuilt to the point of stupidity these days.

I've heard of some where the metal insert becomes loose in the carbon
shell around it. Other than that, it's usually around the BB (I.e.
where the large BB becomes tubes) that some crack, but not at the BB
itself as they are usually these days very oversize, as noted by
landotter.

rather the case of the bottom bracket unit itself. Like this:

It's for selling. Doesn't matter very much at all what the bit in the
middle of a cartridge bb is made of, as long as it's strong enough to
set the compression. A bit of carbon is fine, and a short bit of tube
is rather cheap, so a fine little gimmick.
