why are there no fenders?
Why do recumbent manufactures always show their
recumbent bikes without fenders? Most other bikes are shown and sold with fenders. JonB |

In the US, bikes on websites and in advertisements are generally shown without fenders, except for city bikes which are the exception rather than the rule. This is likely due to bicycles being an accepted form of transportation in Europe, while only "odd" people use bicycles for transportation in the US. The Japanese websites I have looked at generally show bicycles without fenders, but usually have fenders in the list of accessories. -- Tom Sherman - Holstein-Friesland Bovinia The weather is here, wish you were beautiful |

Well, maybe it is an american thing that they dont have fenders. I got the impression after seeing RANS and bachetta bikes because they were mentioned in here. JonB |

In the Uk you have to go out of your way to get mudguards, and pretty much everywhere sports cycles are routinely sold without any. Unless you're buying a utility bike in a land where English is not the mother tongue, it's more common not to get any than the other way about, there's nothing unusual about recumbents in that regard. As for them being optional, it's a side-effect of them being small production runs where it's easy to assemble things to customer specification.
