Yup, it's certainly possible to ride a Uni with a backpack. Of course it depends how big the backpack is and what it weighs. But once you're able to ride any distance you shouldn't have any problem with a small pack. In fact, I find a backpack pretty much essential so I can carry a hydration system. -- Gadge "Natural logs are what you ride on a Mun'e'." - kevinalexandersmith (Thanks to Harper) So are imaginary logs what you ride on a Mun"i" ? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Gadge's Profile: http://www.unicyclist.com/profile/17136 View this thread: http://www.unicyclist.com/thread/73076 Posted Via Usenet.com Premium Usenet Newsgroup Services ---------------------------------------------------------- http://www.usenet.com |

It is certainly possible. I do it almost every day. Just don't load it up too much. I would likely not be able to ride with the backpack my 7th grader carries to school.....tom -- tomkarches ------------------------------------------------------------------------ tomkarches's Profile: http://www.unicyclist.com/profile/12418 View this thread: http://www.unicyclist.com/thread/73076 Posted Via Usenet.com Premium Usenet Newsgroup Services ---------------------------------------------------------- http://www.usenet.com |

I'll often bring groceries home in a backpack. - not a week's worth, just stuff for that night's dinner. -- psbagumba 'http://www.friscounicycle.net' (http://www.friscounicycle.net/) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ psbagumba's Profile: http://www.unicyclist.com/profile/15848 View this thread: http://www.unicyclist.com/thread/73076 Posted Via Usenet.com Premium Usenet Newsgroup Services ---------------------------------------------------------- http://www.usenet.com |

I often go to work with my backpack carrying my laptop and a lot of stuff. It weights about 5 kg I think. I ride for about 2 km. Yesterday, I tried to also ride with my son's saxophone on my chest, and my backpack on the back. It was fine (but I sweat a lot). It can be an option to manage weight on your body. -- kikan ------------------------------------------------------------------------ kikan's Profile: http://www.unicyclist.com/profile/17656 View this thread: http://www.unicyclist.com/thread/73076 Posted Via Usenet.com Premium Usenet Newsgroup Services ---------------------------------------------------------- http://www.usenet.com |

Weights at least 5 kg I guess (just milk and juice = 3-4 liter ~ 3-4 kg). Definitely doable, although you'll sweat a lot on your back. -- hansc ------------------------------------------------------------------------ hansc's Profile: http://www.unicyclist.com/profile/15945 View this thread: http://www.unicyclist.com/thread/73076 Posted Via Usenet.com Premium Usenet Newsgroup Services ---------------------------------------------------------- http://www.usenet.com |

I used to ride with a backback with my trumpet (in a case), food, water, extra clothes and such. Very uncomfotable, but very possible. -- Goats_On_Unicycles -Incubate now. I ride to school with a backpack up to 6 miles(9.5km) a day and until this year I don't think I've had my backpack weigh less than 30 pounds(13kg) it's definitely possible although after a few miles can get uncomfortable if you don't have a decent backpack with nice straps and buckles to keep it from digging into your shoulders and swaying back and forth as you ride. -- Ducttape '-*buy my shirts*-' (www.zazzle.com/ducttapesunicycle*) '*watch my videos*' (http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=ducttapesunicycle) '*uniman comics*' (http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53444) '*original thread for uniman*' (http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49862) *'sigged quotes' (http://tinyurl.com/29b744)* ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ducttape's Profile: http://www.unicyclist.com/profile/12006 View this thread: http://www.unicyclist.com/thread/73076 Posted Via Usenet.com Premium Usenet Newsgroup Services ---------------------------------------------------------- http://www.usenet.com |

When I was a kid, I used to ride my uni delivering newspapers, with the double sided newpaper bag. I mut've carried close to 150 papers daily....I don't see a problem with riding with a backpack, as long as it is comfortable, and tensioned correctly. -- videotoast ------------------------------------------------------------------------ videotoast's Profile: http://www.unicyclist.com/profile/17859 View this thread: http://www.unicyclist.com/thread/73076 Posted Via Usenet.com Premium Usenet Newsgroup Services ---------------------------------------------------------- http://www.usenet.com |
