I think whoever put up the ten grand was very disappointed with the turnout, both from the racers but perhaps more so with the small number of spectators. Originally, the promoter anticipated large enough entries to need heats before the 400-lap final, but that was not needed at all. All the entries fit on the track easily, and there was enough of a gap that guys couldn't gain a lap early. Further, I'd guess maybe 50-100 spectators total, and most didn't stay until the end. Also, is the US giving up on a winter track season? I haven't been paying close attention but it seemed there was more buzz about it a year or two ago. Anyway, I took some pics and spewed some verbiage about the $10K track race last year here.
