Default cyclist loses control and hurls himself into a van.

The 49-year-old was riding with a group of cyclists on Green Lane, Wath Upon
Dearne, on Saturday at approximately 11.35am when the accident took place.

After riding through gravel, he lost control of his bike which then
travelled onto the other side of the road and collided with a blue Nissan
van.

The cyclist sustained serious chest and leg injuries

Wrong sort of gravel I guess.

Proof, if proof were needed, that silly Victorian diversions are
unstable & dangerous & should not be allowed on the roads.

I hope he was wearing a helmet, the injuries could have been even more
serious.

A gang of cyclists usually mean they are racing, and they tend to be more
likely to be wearing helmets.

That is no reason to ban them from the roads.

Did I ever tell you about my daughter attending a cyclist who came off -
and 'de gloved' his penis?

A helmet would have helped alleviate that injury.
