Ditch Tyler; focus on the Tour de Swiss evidence

Big SNIP The 'information' (that I recall) from the lab (as presented by 60 minutes - so I am already suspicious) was that the test results were 'suspicious and consistent with EPO usage'. This is a (possibly) very different statement from 'he failed the test'. Was this the lab 'keeping their options open' or were the test results less than conclusive? I guess we don't know. Suspicious is not a technical term until it is defined. What is the definition here? Is the test result consistent with no EPO usage? -- Michael Press |

Hearsay is not allowed unless there is a cross-examination and the trier-of-fact (Judge or Jury), is able to see the demeanor of the witness. There is no cross-examination before a Grand Jury, these are one-sided proceedings where a prosecuting attorney is seeking an indictment. As to the Tour of Swiss "bomb-shells," they fall into the same category as revealed by Tyler Hamilton. Other credible evidence will be needed. ===== Dumbass - if Lance Armstrong tells Tyler "here's how to use EPO" it's not hearsay. ===== But it's not corroborated either. It remains he-said she-said. --Mike-- * * Chain Reaction Bicycleswww.ChainReactionBicycles.com who is the she in this? |

The test is so subjective that they can nail someone they don't like, e.g., Iban Mayo who had his inconclusive B sample retested until they got the result they wanted, so why not go the other way too? -ilan |

It was also a bit misleading when 60 minutes initially mentions, in passing, that Tyler's writing a book, but later, when they ask about motivations for coming out, the book isn't mentioned. But the Tour de Swiss stuff... if there's a real trail there, that's what I would go with. Skip anything that's a he-said she-said thing and give us the "dope" on the UCI. Let's just hope it's more than Lance's donation though. --Mike-- * * Chain Reaction Bicycleswww.ChainReactionBicycles.com Tyler Hamilton fails my basic intelligence test, whether the rider can speak more than one language. His case is particularly bad, since he lived in Nice for years, but in interviews with French TV, he couldn't even say a single word in French. Same goes for Landis, even though I don't think he as dumb as Tyler Hamilton. The fact that he won Collegiate Nationals doesn't impress me, some of the dumbest people I ever met were collegiate bike racers, a lot of them even got Stanford Ph.D.'s. -ilan |

He was speaking passable French, but stumbling over his words a bit, inserting a lot of little ers & ums & pauses. The French announcer grabbed the mic from him and asked that he speak in English and he'd translate. Apparently he'd never heard Lance speak in English, since that's simply the way he talks? Funny that Tyler didn't pick up on any French. You'd almost have to deliberately try not to, which doesn't go over very well. Me? I have a terrible time with languages. Wish it were otherwise. When you visit a place like Belgium and discover how many different languages most people can speak, it's a real eye-opener. --Mike Jacoubowsky Chain Reaction Bicycles www.ChainReaction.com Redwood City & Los Altos, CA USA |
