There seems too be a lot of careless road crossers out there.

An elderly man is fighting for his life after being knocked down by a cyclist.

Police were called to Bow Road in Tower Hamlets to reports of a collision involving a cyclist and a pedestrian. The man, aged in his 70s, was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital.

Officers from Met Police are now attempting to contact members of his family.

The cyclist did not stop at the scene, near to Thames Magistrates Court, following the collision at just after 5pm on Friday.

Police confirmed detectives are investigating and said the man was critically ill in hospital.

A spokesman said: "The pedestrian was treated by London Ambulance Service at the scene before being taken to hospital. "Police are attempting to inform next of kin.

"The rider of the bicycle did not stop at the scene. Enquiries to locate this person are ongoing."

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are asking any witnesses, or those with dash cam footage, to call 208 597 4874, or 101 with the reference number CAD 5779/3 July.

Assuming the cyclist was at fault, a typical Nugent failing.

In any case, hit and runs are 99% committed by drivers.

The law even specifically mentions *drivers*.

QUOTE:
The Road Traffic Act 1988 requires a ***driver*** to stop if an accident has occurred due to the presence of their vehicle that results in injury to another person, livestock animal, dog, or damage to another's property. The ****driver**** must then give their name and address at the scene to anyone reasonably requiring it, and if there has been an injury to another person, they must produce their ****certificate of insurance**** to anyone reasonably requiring it. Anyone failing to stop or provide such details must report the incident in person to a police station or police constable as soon as practicable, and in all cases within 24 hours.[23][24]

Failing to stop, and failing to report, carry a maximum sentence of 6 months in imprisonment, a £5000 fine and a ****driving**** ban

Which bit of...

"The rider of the bicycle did not stop at the scene. Enquiries to locate
this person are ongoing"

....did you fail to comprehend?

Has the cyclist yet come forward in the public-sprited way you imagine
cyclists all behave?

A "Yes" or "No" will suffice.

But no... you prefer to blame the septuagenarian victim.

Does that mean that it is alright for cyclists to hit and run?

I assume nothing. I am just wondering why an innocent cyclist would fail
to come forward to point out that the 70+ year old was the architect of
his own misfortune and had it coming.

Aren't you?

And can you think of a reason for his failure to identify himself?

Would YOU just scarper after seriously injuring a vulnerable elderly
pedestrian?

[There's no need to answer that unless the reply is some sort of surprise.]

..did you fail to comprehend?

You are confusing me with another poster who (for instance) doesn't
understand what "100%" means.

Where was the driver in all of this?

You're getting as blinkeredly legalistic as Nugent. Stop it.
