Where Sagan started his sprint in the Tour that camera box or whatever it was was invisible. In mid sprint he was FORCED to move over and they take away every chance he had for the green jersey? No here, what in the hell is that thing hanging out into the road? just after a water feed? The racing appears to be run by people that don't know the first thing about bicycle racing. |

These are unusual events which will of course happen with some not-every-day regularity, as they always have. Joachim Agostinho died in the lead within sight of the finish line when a dog ran across the course. https://www.cyclingranking.com/rider...quim-agostinho Magni finished il Giro in second place after refusing a sling or bandage for his broken clavicle. He rode by pulling on the end of his tape with his teeth: http://www.bikeraceinfo.com/images-a...magni-tube.jpg Luis Ocana ran right off the road trying to catch Merckx in a 1971 Tour descent. After he climbed back up onto the road, bruised but ready to ride, Joop Zoetmelk rode around a team car and smacked him down: https://live.staticflickr.com/8785/1...ab019c5b_b.jpg I could go on. Unusual events are the stuff magazine covers are made of (well, nowadays, web news). You can count on the unexpected! It's a real industry! Then again a hundred or so top athletes all hopped up on adrenaline (+ whatever)and riding cms apart all day usually don't do anything unusual. On those days (and there are a lot of those days) the news headlines are about points leaders and final sprint, not blood and guts. -- Andrew Muzi www.yellowjersey.org/ Open every day since 1 April, 1971 |

On those days (and there are a lot of those days) the news headlines are about points leaders and final sprint, not blood and guts. Unusual events are ALL part of bicycle racing but what looked like a road sign hanging down on the road is something that should have never been there.. Because of where that sprint started and the box that the race promoters themselves put in the way, and the fact that Sagan did NOT cause anyone to crash and did not finish first by nudging the other rider over, why was Sagan set back? And Thomas was so surprised by that thing hanging over on the road that he not only injured himself but knocked down another rider as well. It is like whoever is promoting these races now are rank amateurs. |
