Default New Cinelli frames origin

I'm looking at the '04 Proxima and Unica frames. I checked the Cinelli
site, but I couldn't find where they'd been fabricated. Are these
italian frames, or from the East? If they're from the East, does anyone
know which factory?
Is anyone in the group riding one? Any hits/misses/quirks in your
experience?
TIA

Scott

I don't know but have seen this recently with other brands as well.
Try figuring out where Bassos are currently made...they come with no
markings as to their origins on either the frame or the
packaging....The website has a banner that says "Italian made racing
bikes", but color me skeptical. They look like standard Taiwan frames
to me, and the steel Bassos always had "Made in Italy" decals as I
recall. Looking at the Masi website, I see that the page for their top
model trumpets the fact that its made in Italy. As for the other
models, its anyone's guess.

After decades of these brands shouting their Italian heritage from the
rooftops, seems odd that the are suddenly so coy about such things, no?
I'm willing to bet that a high percentage of the frames from these
companies are now of asian origin. Whether or not that's a bad thing
I'll leave as an exercise for the reader.

IMO, particularly the "Masis" of today have pretty much nothing to do
with the classic brand aside from the fact that a couple of decades ago
Faliero Masi sold the name to somebody who sold the name to somebody who
sold the name to somebody who contracts with an Asian factory to make
most of the current "Masi" bikes. I guess they contract with an Italian
factory for the top of the line model, but I personally wouldn't find
much of a difference in this fact. Most of the modern stuff even from
the classic italian names looks kind of ugly to me in any case.

If you want the closest thing to a "real" modern Masi, Faliero's son
still makes them, apparently in Italy from the website, but you'd have
to go there to get one with the "Masi" name on it, otherwise they are
sold under the "Milano" brand in the states.
