Orbea Orca frame: bad test <-> Euskatel team frame
Hi,
I noticed the really nice looking Orbea Orca frame which the team Euskatel uses. I found a test in the german "Tour-Magazin" 1/2004. They said: "It is the worth frame we ever had below under saddle." So what? Is Euskatel really using bad equipment or don't they use the same type a normal customer can buy? Any experiences with this frame? The final was between this one and the Kuota Krédo and the LOOK 486. A jury of 10 (?), including readers and journalists, tested all the bikes over several tries, and that was the result. I have not ridden this one, but the Kuota, and adore it. I can't imagine why your magazine was so negative. Perhaps if you read the French one, you could get an idea of the criteria for their decision and compare the articles. -- Bonne route, Sandy Paris FR |

OK, with google.fr I found: http://www.velo101.com/actualite/def...&Section=Route http://www.pezcyclingnews.com/?pg=fullstory&id=1914 Do you have any other link for this topic? They say it is very unstable at high velocity. Pro Cycling or Cycle Sport recently had a review of the Orbea Orca frame. Chris Boardman was the reviewer. The opinion was it was an OK, average, not all that exciting bike. Nothing bad mentioned in the review. Just the impression it was not a fantastic, heart pounding, adrenaline pumping bike, compared to some of the other super high end bikes reviewed and ridden by Boardman. |

So, just out of curiosity, what bikes fall into the "fantastic, heart pounding, adrenaline pumping bike" category. That sounds like more of a description of a mountain descent than a bike. -- Jay Beattie. |

If you're not fixated on the word 'fantastic', almost any bike with a loose headset and a long downhill can take care of the rest. Curtis L. Russell Odenton, MD (USA) Just someone on two wheels... |
