mm well i also am a very inpatient person, as i cannot just wait for
something to happen, but i am very persistent, so if i want something
to happen i will continue trying untill a force i cannot control
prevents me from trying any more, like say a broken seat, or the sun
going down etc

and as for looking for attention, well i think that if you want to spot
the attention seekers or showoffs among us just look for the people who
unicycle in the busiest part of town, (a bit like myself).

i think the most common trait would be persistences as previosly
mentioned to sit on a unicycle trying to not fall off without the hours
making any apparent difference until you finally brake through we have
to be a persistent bunch

It's quite clear that certain types of sport will attract certain types
of individual, at least on average.

I unicycling a single sport? I suggest that the "muni mindset" is
different from the "trials mindset" and the "long distance mindset" and
so on. Unicycling is several sports, with considerable overlap.

Attention defecit disorder? Clearly not. It is far more likely to
appeal to the obsessive type with a long attention span. I once did an
estimated 24,650 pedal strokes without a UPD or deliberate stop. (22
miles on a Coker.) That's 2 hours maintaining balance on a single
wheel on varied terrain.

When I took up unicycling, there was an element of attention seeking -
I intended to incorporate it in my performance with the Morris dancing.
20 years later, I enjoy the solitary nature of the sport, and resent
it when it attracts unwanted attention.

well I agree with the working out thing, I think being unicyclists mean
we seek for new things, and like to experiment, and drive to be better
in unicycling and life..

Well I'm a persistent (obsessive? probably) nerd who enjoys being able
to do something without massive expenses (think bikes) that can be and
mostly is solitary for me. I always must come to a finishing point
with whatever I start, even if it means being told or reading about the
answer for a difficult question or throwing countless hours into
practicing the same maneuver.

did not work, let me try it this way. Hey, that was great. Let me see
if I can do that again. Okay, now let me see if I can do that with
extra speed/height/flair/spin. Let me try that one more time. Darn.

Damn!
FOUR weeks?

Why did they feel the need to suspend you?
(In other words, tell me what THEY thought you were guilty of,
please).

When I was in the 9th grade, I got:
enough writeups to get in school suspensions.
enough in school suspensions to get suspended.
enough suspensions to get expelled.

Fortunately, they did not expel me and I went on to another school
for 10th grade.

There was a very interesting article in Israels leading paper yesterday
stating that the type of sport that you do reflects a lot about your
personality. Reaserch has shown that people who go to the Gym are
usually extroverts and are on the lookout to meet new friends. Swimmers
are on average more solitary and are looking for some quality time by
themselves without interruptions. Windsurfers, parasailers and hang
gliders are more apt to be entrapanuers. I was just wondering what
Unicycling or even the subbranches of unicycling are telling us about
ourselves?

qhat if you enjoys all of those sports?
