Default Before & after bike lanes

Sort of OT, but I was rolling down the ramp in to my work garage

even metered in to the garage? With all the time it takes for the cars
to get in to the garage, you would think that swiping a pass or taking
a ticket was brain surgery. *You can wait forever to get down that

I agree, _some_ bicyclists are compliant to an unnecessary degree.
OTOH, I don't believe that's one of our most pressing problems!

For a close parallel to Jay's situation in the automobile world,
there's the battle between the "early mergers" and the "late mergers"
when highway work narrows the road to one lane. The early mergers get
****y about the late mergers. But the highway engineers wish everyone
would merge late. It moves traffic more quickly - gives more
"throughput."

That's all covered in the first few pages of _Traffic_ by Tom
Vanderbilt, which I recommend highly.
