Default 'Overcoming' – the CSC/TdF'04 movie

"Aztec International presents
Theatrical Release Date: 20 January 2006 (Adelaide - other states to
follow)
Tomas Gislason’s first feature length film to screen in Australia,
overcoming” seems appropriate in its central theme of teamwork.
Legendary Danish cyclist, Bjarne Riis, seeks to put together the
world’s best
cycling team. The scenario is the 2004 Tour de France, and the object
is to achieve at the highest level.
Those were the days when beating Lance Armstrong seemed almost
possible, and if ever a team had the cyclist in place, Team CSC was the
one. Ivan Basso is his name. But it takes a great team to take a great
cyclist to the podium in Paris.
“Overcoming” traces the development of a team that includes the finest
cyclists from Italy (Basso), Spain (Carlos Sastre), USA (Bobby Julich),
Germany (Jens Voigt) and many others. From early training camps
through to the race itself, the unobtrusive lens of Mads Thomsen weaves
its way into the physicality and the psyche of the cyclists, and the
tacticians. The film shares elements of 2005’s “Hell On Wheels”, but
offers an entirely different narrative, and dramatic threads. The
emotions driving the cyclists are to the fore in the classical form of
the film, akin to “Kelly’s Heroes”
A truly international cinema release, this film is helmed by a Dane,
features cast & languages from many parts of the world, and focusses on
a sporting event that grows in popularity every year. And adding to
local flavour, the CSC team has signed up two fine Australian cyclists
since the film was completed: Luke Roberts and Stuart O’Grady."

starts January 19 – exclusive to Nova Digital
380 Lygon Street Carlton | 9347 5331

cheers
FD

PS no mention of Tyler, so looks like the potential for this
what-could-have-been-amazing-docco has changed somewhat but still
sounds good

Wired to Win (formerly BrainPower ie the version with Tyler Hamilton as
the "star") is coming soon to Imax Melbourne. The Tour on an alpine
mountain sized screen - that's GOTTA be good
