Yeah Simon, I'm with you, living in England denigrating someone that won 7 Tours in a row (which one of your heros did that again? Oh, yeah, you're counting the Giro which used to be a cake walk and the Vuelta which was little more than a climbers race) and telling yourself that Lance was gutless. Psst - Eddy Merckx said that if he was racing now he probably would have done the same thing as Lance. Moreover, all of the physical data showed that Axel was a stronger rider than his father and yet could hardly make a dent in his career despite that. Certainly Axel never had the drive to win that Eddy had but he had the ability. Sort of makes a difference where there's 40 others with that sort of ability instead of 2 others. |

Whatever you say, Simon is right. The riders he mentioned were more aggressive, more successful and VASTLY more entertaining. |

Yeah Simon, I'm with you, living in England I am not English and do not live in England. I actually was in England last week, but that was the first time in years. denigrating someone that won 7 Tours in a row (which one of your heros did that again? Oh, yeah, you're counting the Giro which used to be a cake walk and the Vuelta which was little more than a climbers race) and telling yourself that Lance was gutless. As someone else pointed out here only this week, Landis' solo breakaway on Thursday exceeds in distance the sum total of all the solo breaks Headstrong made in his whole TdF career. Which, I think, illustrates the difference between a champion and a percentage man. -- (Simon Brooke) http://www.jasmine.org.uk/~simon/ ;; Women are from Venus. Men are from Mars.
