RR: Uncompahgre Ass-Kicking
Mine....
Working on 24.6kps so making this short. Started on the west side of the Cimarron Ridge while the wife and kids drove over to Silver Jack Reservoir to hike and fish. Probable the most beautiful section of alpine forest I've ridden and some of the most difficult due to the rapid elevation gain after the first 2 miles. Crested the ridge at Lou Creek pass (10870')and stopped for a break (well, the first food break)..... Took 2.5 hours to go 5 miles, pushing the bike the last two miles. This trail goes up, up up! Alaska has nothing on the Uncompahgre mosquito...... The descent down the east side was somewhat of a disappoinment due to the trail being 2-track quad run. It did make for some fast down and a little white knuckle since I was alone. Pictures in a couple of weeks due to dial up and leaving the usb cord to the camera back in Phoenix. Gary |

I was thinking plateau when I read the header, but it was the forest.
I could have told you a little more about the trails in the Silver Jack area. JD |

JD I know but I don't have your current email info and I was in such a rush before coming up here I didn't have a chance to ask via amb. So do you have any suggestions? If you don't want to post them here, email me at this email addy. Gary (cleaning out the barn today...) |
