Maybe the drivers can't say thanks as they have a mobile 'phone in
their hand?

Can't you drive no handed?* You only need a hand on the wheel to turn.

But seriously, I have no problem using a phone, a sandwich, or a
bottle of coke while driving.* You only use one hand unless you're
changing gear or indicating.* Just put the phone down at that point.

I have never owned a mobile 'phone as I don't need one.

Of course you don't.

Only friends know one's mobile number.

Several spammers seem to know mine.

They know the number exists. They might not know whose phone it is.

Same with my wife's mobile - I think she sometimes even has to even PAY to read the scam messages! Waste of money.

And that timing chain?

It's on the same one as 3 years ago. It's supposed to be a fit and forget item.

I was referring to how much it cost you 3 years ago.

About £300.

Mind you, my timing belt (! - an engine that requires an elastic band to make it stop itself from bending in half) cost me £1500. Belt, engine, fitting, various other problems.

You only change it when the engine light comes on after it stretches.

I got more than an engine light. I got.... well no warning at all actually. The engine just stopped firing. P.S., don't use Green Flag. They took my car to a garage which took one week to "not getting around to looking under the bonnet". I had to pay them £125 to tow it to a reputable garage, which took 30 minutes to look at it, tell me it needed a new engine, then took it to a garage they recommended and told me of several places I could get a reconditioned one. I arranged everything over the phone and got it sorted.

My breakdown cover is RAC and is bundled with my insurance. The second time that I needed breakdown was when I had a flat battery in January and they fitted a new one.

A long time ago my alternator failed. The AA guy charged it, then actually followed me and charged it twice more on the way home.

Ever noticed that breakdown cover is charged the opposite way round to car insurance? With insurance, you pay a large amount, then it reduces as you make no claims. But with breakdown, it starts low then increases if you claim. Which is daft as you can just change supplier and go to the cheapest level again.

Isnā€™t it just a tiny bit pretentious to insist on putting an apostrophe before ā€œphoneā€?

I also put one before 'flu.

Don't you need one after it too? As you deleted the "enza".

It seems nowadays you can earn money for cycling past some other cyclists on TV. Why do people enjoy watching this ****?

At least the scenery is far more interesting than in motor racing.

But they go much slower. Both would be more interesting with extra crashes. Something like stock car racing where pushing is encouraged.

What the hell? The company charges to RECEIVE a message? Change company.

I installed a Microsoft text program on mine, it allows me to block senders very easily, one of which is my own mobile company. I do not need to be told once a month that they've DD'd £6 for another month. I know this.

I only have ever had bundled breakdown cover with my insurance which seems to be "free". I only have bespoke breakdown cover when I am on my European trips as my insurance doesn't cover non UK travel.

It ain't free. If you take off all the extras, the insurance is much lower. I pay £130 fully comp.

And I don't like all my eggs in one basket.
