Finally charged!
Exactly a week after I called and asked about it.
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/...,4209157.story Orlando police charged a woman with vehicular homicide and DUI manslaughter more than four months after she was accused of running over and killing a man who was walking on a sidewalk. Sara Jane Bragg, 24, was under the influence of cocaine and a strong anti-anxiety drug when she ran over and killed 67-year-old Norman Benzing on Oct. 11, police said. The charges came after police received toxicology reports from the state, Sgt. Barbara Jones said. Bragg, who has been in jail since October, also faces charges of driving with a suspended license and causing a death; and leaving the scene of a crash involving a death, according to an arrest report. She originally was jailed in October for violating her probation from a previous charge. Police said Benzing and his wife were strolling along Orange Avenue and Muriel Street on her birthday in October when Bragg's 1996 Oldsmobile jumped the curb, killing Benzing. Bragg pulled off the curb and continued driving south on Orange Avenue without stopping. A witness followed Bragg and told her to stop because she had struck a pedestrian. Bragg pulled over at a restaurant a few blocks south of where she hit Benzing, police said. Bragg told officers she did not stop because she was on her way to pick up her daughter to take her to school. Officers said Bragg's speech was slurred and that her eyes appeared glassy, according to the police report. Florida Department of Law Enforcement records show that Bragg has been arrested 18 times on charges of larceny, possession of cocaine and violating probation. She was under community control at the time of the fatal accident, according to the Florida Department of Corrections. Benzing's wife would not comment Friday about the new charges filed against Bragg. Benzing was an avid bicyclist and traversed the country more than once on his two-wheeler. He was well-known in the community for his work with youth and First Presbyterian Church in Orlando. He also owned an insurance company for several years but sold it shortly before his death. |

Ms. Bragg sounds like a true winner of a human being. I am sure she will set an excellent example for her daughter. -- Tom Sherman - Holstein-Friesland Bovinia The weather is here, wish you were beautiful |

I don't know if I had anything to do with the charges being filed, but I have another one on my list. Happened a week before this one did. So it is time to make a few more calls to reach out and touch someone. |
