I found this headline:
City to convert 1 traffic lane on Burrard Bridge for bicyclists
The "jist" of it is that cycalists won out against shopkeepers.

This seems to be going in the right direction of separating
pedestrians from cycalists. But will there be enough bicycle use to
keep it open?
