Bicyclist airlifted after spill in Tam Valley
Staff Report Article Launched: 08/25/2008 12:03:46 AM PDT A bicyclist who suffered possible spinal injuries was airlifted by a medical helicopter after spilling his bike on the Rhubarb Trail near Tennessee Valley Road in unincorporated Tam Valley on Sunday night, a Southern Marin fire official said. The man in his 50s was taken by Cal Star medical helicopter based in Concord to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, Southern Marin Fire Capt. Cary Gloeckener said. The man's identity was not released. Southern Marin fire personnel responded to the 8 p.m. call to Tennessee Valley Road where it intersects with Rhubarb Trail. The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Department says Kyle Donnici was injured Thursday night when he slipped walking across Hotlum Glacier. Donnici was with five other hikers and two guides, who helped him back to their base camp. A National Guard helicopter and medical personnel from Mather Field airlifted Donnici on Friday to Mercy Medical Center in the town of Mount Shasta. The medical center would not release information on Donnici's condition Friday. |
