Default Joerg - Analog Question

The reason Digital computers were developed was because there is essentially no "settling" time between state changes.

Microchip analog devices much have a great deal less settling time since there is so much less energy involved.

Would you think that since a single analog circuit could have the accuracy of perhaps 8-10 digital bits that the settling time could be reduced to the point where this would be preferable to digital circuitry? It would use less power and far less electronics circuitry.

What do you think? This is pertinent to machine learning and artificial intelligence.
