Default Cycle lockers in Edinburgh city centre?

I'm planning to visit the fringe in a couple of weeks time, cycling in
and would like to leave my bike in a secured location while I wander
round the city - not just locked to some railings but preferably in a
cycle locker. I was thinking there might be a few cycle lockers at
Edinburgh Waverly station, and then I was a surprised to find that
National Car Parks do cycle lockers - has anyone used one of these!?
£1 a day is pretty reasonable...

Just a small update on this - I went to the St James Centre NCP car
park linked to above, and found that they don't actually have bicycle
lockers - there's only a bicycle rack (capacity for about a dozen
bicycles I think - only 1 other bike in there at the time). The
attendants booth is only a few metres away though unfortunately the
attendant is seated facing the other way! The attendant wasn't
particularily helpful as it happens, and seemed keen to pass on only
the information that the bike was there at my own risk (tho at least
there was no charge to leave the bike).

I locked the bike up with the small bike lock I had, but was paranoid
enough to go off to the Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative to buy another
lock for some additional security. Unfortunately I'd completely
forgotten Grant's recommendation of Greenside Place
(http://www.ncp.co.uk/multimapform.as...=3& type=zoom
- do you lock your bike up in the motorcycle section?), otherwise I
would have tried there - I did ask later at the Castle Terrace NCP, who
told me they had no cycle lockers either.

The festival was good though!

No, not in the motorcycle section. There are several lockers just for
bicycles near the lifts (I'm not sure if they are on every level of the
car park). Pop in a £1 coin and take the key with you. If you lose the
key I think you need to provide two pieces of name & address ID to the
attendant before he will unlock it for you.

Cheers,
Grant

Ah that stupid design, which I got removed from places in Fife when
I pointed out the rather obvious flaw with the idea.

All a thief has to do is pop a pound coin in the locker and they get
the key, which they can then copy at their leisure. They can then
try out whether the copy works and when it does return the original
and then even get their pound coin back. Then they just have to keep
an eye on the locker and when a suitable bike is placed in the
locker they use their key to remove the bike.

Easy peasy and something that opens the organisation installing the
lockers to a lot of potential trouble.
