Default Racer Sportif in Toronto ruined my frame !

I bought a NEW Aquila road frame from Racer Sportif on Dundas West in
Toronto. When I bought it, I asked them to install the headset, face
and chase the BB shell ( Italian threading ). I was transfering parts
from a bike that was killed by a car, so I didn't need or want them to
do anything more. When I picked up the frame a week later after work,
I did not notice they stripped BB shell because there was a layer of
grey rubber on the threads and I so tired I forgot to check before I
left the store. After I cleaned the BB shell at home I discovered they
had wrecked the frame. The drive-side of the bottom bracket is
stripped to a depth of 8mm from the outside of the shell.
Racer Sportif has not offered any restitution for their stupidity. I
am posting this warning to anyone to let you know my experience with
Racer Sportif on Dundas Street West in Toronto.
Maybe we should keep this as a running thread about Racer Sportif,
lets just chronical their horrors and screw-ups, and if you should
know anyone thinking about buying from them then direct them to this
thread.

I have personally had good experiences buying from Racersportif, but that
said, I've only bought specific stuff like tires, etc., which they tend to
have very good prices on (conti sprinters at about $48 Can., etc).

Hi Laz, I'm very sorry to hear of your woes. Since apparently, these
folks must be a dealer of the Frame Builder, I would contact the
company that builds these frames, and explain to them what thier
dealer/distributor did to you.

You should not have to suffer these losses, and explain to the frame
company that you want a brand new frame. Drop a dime on these folks,
don't let them get away with screwing you at any cost. Clearly tell
the dealer too of your actions/wishes, and that you will not rest
until you recieve total satisfaction! Mark

Racer Sportiff is Aquila. The frames are built to their specs from an
outside source. They should make good on it, considering Aquila is
owned by them.

Thank-you Mark for your kind concern. Prior to posting here I sent an
email to Aquila bicycles (as that was the only method available per
their website). I sent detailed jpegs of the frame ( showing it was
new ) and a close up of the damaged bottom bracket ( which I wish I
could post somewhere ) which they have not responded to. I can afford
this loss, I am riding already, I would prefer to announce my
experience as a warning to others and be their last victim than enter
a settlement and a conspiracy of silence.
